Fall 2023 Admits

FALL 2023 FIRST YEAR ADMITS

If you are interested in Summer Session 2023 classes, below are some suggestions.

Lower level classes (numbered 001-099) at UC Merced are intended for first years or sophomores.

The Schedule of Classes (open course list) is now available..

  • Use the Schedule of Classes to view open seats in summer classes.
  • Click the CRN (5-digit number) for the course to view a description, restrictions, and prerequisites for each class.

It is generally recommended that first year admits take a maximum of 2 classes (usually 8-9 units) in summer.

To see GE courses offered in summer, see BAC Lower Level GE Courses Summer 2023.

SCIENCE OR ENGINEERING MAJORS

Complete a college math class (college Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II) or college chemistry class during summer.

A summer math class is especially important if you did not complete a full year of calculus in high school and plan to do a science or engineering major at UC Merced.

ALL MAJORS

  • Complete a course to fill General Education (GE) requirements.
  • GE requirements for currently enrolled UC Merced students appear in the 2022-23 Catalog.

  • The revised GE requirements for Fall 2023 first years will appear in the 2023-24 Catalog (expected to be available in early June 2023).

  • Take a course in your intended major.
    • Until the 2023-24 Catalog is released, use the 2022-23 Catalog to view all courses required in your intended major.
      • Click on Academic Programs in the left column.
      • Click on your intended major and click on each course to read a description.
      • You can also click on Course Descriptions in the left column to view descriptions of all UC Merced classes.
      • See our Sample Grad Plans page with links to view the sequencing of courses in your intended major.

IF YOU HAVE NOT SATISFIED ELWR

All first years must complete the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement by the end of your second semester.

If you have not satisfied ELWR in another way, complete Writing 001 in summer.
