The Bobcat Advising Center (BAC) is the academic advising home for all first year (freshman) students in every major.
All first years have an assigned academic advisor in BAC.

Read the Friday, May 29, 2026 message on your UC Merced email from your BAC temporary summer academic advisor.
Your BAC temporary summer academic advisor will be your contact for academic advising questions throughout the summer.
The May 29 email includes information about Zoom walk-in hours (virtual drop in hours) that begin Monday, June 1, 2026.
Zoom walk-in hours for Fall 2026 admits will be offered from Monday, June 1 to Thursday, August 20, 2026.
BAC academic advisors will also be presenting at every New Student Orientation program in Summer 2026.

That email will include information about Fall 2026 walk-in hours and appointments.
Your BAC academic advisor will be an important resource and primary contact for you throughout your first year.
After fall semester classes begin, meet with your BAC academic advisor at least once each semester.
You will have the chance to discuss your academic history (college courses or AP/IB exams already completed), choice of major and career, GE requirements, academic and co-curricular activities that support your goals, summer plans, intended graduation date, and much more.
