WHAT TO BRING TO AN APPOINTMENT OR WALK-IN ADVISING

  • A laptop (if you have one)--but this is optional.
  • Your questions and ideas about academic and career goals, majors and minors of interest, course sequencing, intended graduation, etc.

ABOUT APPOINTMENTS

  • 30 minutes long.  Please arrive a few minutes early to check in.
  • Must be scheduled online at least 24 hours in advance.
    • Use your UC Merced email when you schedule an appointment.
  • Fill very quickly due to the volume of students that we serve.
  • BAC academic advisor appointment calendars are open on a 3-week rolling basis during the academic year.
    • If appointments are full, check the calendar every 1-2 days.
  • To schedule an appointment, go to this page and click the link by your BAC academic advisor's name.

  • During an appointment, your BAC academic advisor can help you:
    • Prepare an academic plan for current or future semesters, including optional summer courses.
    • Discuss major, minor, and career interests
    • Identify academic support resources
    • Talk about strategies to complete remaining GE requirements
    • Identify academic or co-curricular opportunities to support your personal, academic, and career goals
    • Develop ideas for next semester class registration
    • Review questions that you have after you have explored your MyDegreePath audit

ABOUT WALK-IN ADVISING

  • Done on a drop-in basis and limited to 10-15 minutes when other students are waiting.
  • Each BAC academic advisor has 90 minutes of walk-in daily during the academic year with longer (extended) walk-in at semester start and during registration.
  • See this page for current walk-in advising hours for your BAC academic advisor.

  • During walk-in advising, your BAC academic advisor can help you:
    • Answer quick questions (forms, deadlines, adjusting classes in current semester)
    • Address issues that need immediate assistance
    • Consult if you have a crisis (family, personal, legal, medical) that impacts your ability to continue in classes
