Minors are secondary knowledge to your declared major and are great for students who has multiple interests and wants to explore part of a different major. Minors are also great for taking secondary knowledge that may support your declared major.
Here are a few things to consider when deciding whether to add a minor or not:
- You must have a declared major before declaring a minor.
- You can declared any minors within any School, however, some majors and minors cannot be paired together.
- Not all majors has minor equivalent, and some minors do not have major equivalent
- You must declared a minor before you reach 90 total units.
- Minor can be declared as soon as their first semester at UC Merced as long as you have a declared major.
- You must complete your minor prior to or at the same time as your declared major.
- Meet with your BAC academic advisor to discuss details about declaring a minor
- After meeting with your BAC academic advisor, you can submit the Minor Change form.
