Minor Guideline

Minors are secondary knowledge to your declared major and are great for students who has multiple interests and wants to explore part of a different major. Minors are also great for taking secondary knowledge that may support your declared major.

Here are a few things to consider if you are interested in declaring a minor:

  1. Students can declared any minors within any School, however, some majors and minors cannot be paired together.
  2. Not all majors has minor equivalent, and some minors do not have major equivalent
  3. You must declared a minor before you reach 90 total units.
  4. You must have a declared major to declared a minor.
    1. You cannot declared a minor if you are still consider as Undeclared.
  5. First year students can add a minor as soon as their first semester at UC Merced.
  6. Meet with your BAC academic advisor to discuss details about declaring a minor
  7. After meeting with your BAC academic advisor, you can submit the Minor Change form.
