Full-time status refers to your total units enrolled for the semester. To be consider a full-time student, you must be register in a minimum of 12 units. This very critical for any students:

Who receive financial aid |
Who are international students on F-1 (or F-2, J-1, J-2) visas |
|
Who receive veterans' benefits |
Who have certain scholarhips |
|
Who are intercollegiate student-athletes |
Who are part of other programs that request full-time status |
Being enrolled in 12 units is only part of being a UC Merced student. You will need to take more than 12 units in some semesters to be on track to graduate in four years.
Most students take 14-16 units each semester.
You should plan to complete at least 30 units each year to meet normal progress to degree at UC Merced.
Talk with your BAC advisor if you have questions about the number of units you should take each semester.
NOTE : Waitlisted units do NOT count toward full-time status.
