Fall 2026 Admits

FALL 2026 FIRST YEAR ADMITS

If you are interested in Summer Session 2026 classes, below are some suggestions.

Lower level classes (numbered 001-099) at UC Merced are intended for first years or sophomores.

Use the Schedule of Classes (open course list) to view open seats in summer classes.

  • Click on the title of the course to view a description, restrictions, and prerequisites for each class.

It is generally recommended that first year admits take a maximum of 2 classes (usually 8-9 units) in summer.

The BAC Lower Level GE Courses Summer 2026 handout will be released in late January to early February.

SCIENCE OR ENGINEERING MAJORS

Complete a college math class (college Precalculus, Calculus I, Calculus II) or college chemistry class during summer.

A summer math class is especially important if you did not complete a full year of calculus in high school and plan to do a science or engineering major at UC Merced.

ALL MAJORS

  • Complete a course to fill General Education (GE) requirements.
  • GE requirements are based on your Catalog year (the year you entered UC Merced).
    • The new Catalog is usually released in early April for the following year.
  • To see your GE requirements:
    • Go to the Catalog.
    • Select your Catalog year in the upper right corner.
      • Example:  Fall 2026 admits would have a Catalog year of 2026-27.
    • Select General Education in the left column.

  • Take a course in your intended major.
    • Use the Catalog to view all courses required in your intended major.
      • Select Academic Programs in the left column.
      • Select your intended major.
        • A sample 4-year graduation plan is included above the requirements for that major.
        • Click on a course to read the description.
    • To see course descriptions for all UC Merced classes:
      • Use the Catalog.
        • Select Course Descriptions in the left column.

IF YOU HAVE NOT SATISFIED ELWR

All first years must complete the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement by the end of your second semester.

If you have not satisfied ELWR in another way, complete Writing 001 in summer.
