The direct link to log on to My First Term Planner for your School of Natural Sciences major is:
https://integ1-prod.ucmerced.edu:8100/udirect/plan/manage/display-plans.html
The course recommendations for Fall 2021 on your ROADMAP (left side) are based on your:
- UC Merced placement exams in chemistry, math, and/or computer science & engineering
- University of California Analytical Writing Placement Exam (AWPE)
- Intended major in the School of Natural Sciences
- Official test scores (AP, IB, SAT, ACT) that arrived at UC Merced by June 1
- Official college transcripts that arrived at UC Merced by June 1
The recommended courses will meet major, General Education (GE), or unit requirements in your degree.
Courses are arranged in 3 sections based on the priority of the course.
STEP 1 PRIORITY COURSES
The courses listed in this section are strongly recommended for your first semester by the faculty in your declared major. Plan and register for these courses first before adding any other courses.
Some priority courses may be checked off as completed based on your UC Merced placement exams, official college transcripts, or official test scores received and evaluated by UC Merced.
If you have not already satisfied the UC Entry Level Writing Requirement (ELWR) in another way, you must take WRI 001 (Academic Writing) in your first semester at UC Merced as one of your priority classes.
You must also complete the SPRK 001 (Spark Seminar) by the end of your second semester at UC Merced.
STEP 2 BACKUP RECOMMENDED COURSES
If your Step 1 Priority Courses are full, choose courses from your Step 2 Backup Recommended Courses.
If you have already received credit for one of your Step 1 Priority courses, take the next higher class in the sequence from your Step 2 Backup Recommended Courses.
STEP 3 OPTIONAL ELECTIVES
Select courses from this section if courses in Step 1 Priority Courses and Step 2 Backup Recommended Courses are full or have been checked off as already completed.
These courses will apply toward your General Education (GE) or other degree requirements and can meet some prerequisites for future courses.
ADJUSTING YOUR SCHEDULE
Need to change a class later in the summer? After your assigned time, registration remains open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to adjust your schedule.
If a course is full when you register, continue to check the Schedule of Classes (open course list) throughout summer. Seats open when other students adjust their schedule and drop classes.
UNIT RECOMMENDATIONS
Enroll in 12-17 units each semester at your assigned registration time.
Enroll in at least 12 units to trigger full-time status. Being full-time is required if you have applied for financial aid.
Most first year students take 14-16 units in the first semester.
You can enroll in a maximum of 18 units in your first semester at UC Merced.
As a School of Natural Sciences (SNS) major, you must pass your first chemistry and first math course by the end of your first year to meet the SNS Early Progress Policy. All SNS majors are expected to take chemistry and math in the first semester.
All undergraduates at UC Merced must pass 30 units or more each academic year to meet Undergraduate Normal Progress to Degree.
