Before You Start

Before you start planning, it's important to understand what you are seeing on My First Term Planner!

The direct link to log on to My First Term Planner for your School of Natural Sciences major is:

https://integ1-prod.ucmerced.edu:8100/udirect/plan/manage/display-plans.html

Notice that there are two sides to My First Term Planner:  a ROADMAP (left side) that shows your priority classes and recommended backup choices for Fall 2021 and a PLANNER (right side) similar to a "shopping cart" where you place the courses you plan to register for during your assigned registration time.

ROADMAP (LEFT SIDE)

The roadmap is a guide with the recommended courses that you should take based on your declared major in the School of Natural Sciences.  Your My First Term roadmap is organized into:

Step 1: Priority Courses (first choices)

Step 2:  Backup Recommended Courses (second choices)

Step 3:  Optional Electives (additional required courses that are third choices)

Enroll in Step 1 Priority Courses as your first choices for Fall 2021 if you have met the prerequisites.

PLANNER (RIGHT SIDE)

On the right side is your degree planner for the first semester

This planner is your “shopping cart” where you can drag and drop courses from the roadmap on the left side.

You can also manually add courses from the Schedule of Classes (open course list) to your degree planner.

WHAT IF YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED A COURSE ON YOUR PLANNER?

You should NOT repeat courses you have already completed with a college course taken in high school or with a test score (AP, IB, SAT, ACT).

If you believe you have already completed a course but it is not checked off on your roadmap, it could mean:

  • You have not sent your OFFICIAL transcripts from all colleges to UC Merced.  Transcript deadline: JULY 1
  • You have not sent your OFFICIAL test scores (AP, IB, SAT, ACT) to UC Merced.  Test score deadlineJULY 15
  • You have requested your OFFICIAL test scores but the name on your AP or IB score report does not exactly match the name on your UC application.  See more information at AP & IB Exams.
  • You have sent your official college transcripts or official test scores but UC Merced has not completed the evaluation of those transcripts or test scores yet.

NOTE:  If you took college courses that appear on your high school transcript, you must still submit an OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT from each college attended.

WHAT IF YOU ARE PRE-HEALTH (PRE-MED, PRE-DENTISTRY, PRE-PHARMACY, PRE-VET MED, ETC.)?

If you are pre-health and earned an AP exam score of 3 or higher in AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Physics, review the AP Exam Credit Acceptance for Professional Schools in California chart.

Contact the Bobcat Advising Center academic advisor who sent your course recommendations if you have questions.

Some medical schools or other health professions graduate programs may require that you repeat the lab biology, chemistry, or physics class in which you have already earned AP credit.
