- Provides updated information about academic requirements
- Be sure to choose the correct "catalog year" based on the semester that you entered UC Merced
SCHEDULE OF CLASSES (also called the "open course list")
- Includes number of seats on the course waitlist if the class is closed
- The Schedule of Classes shows all classes offered in a specific term, including number of seats remaining
- Click on title of the class then Prerequisites and Restrictions tabs in left column
- Prerequisites: courses that must be completed before this class
- Restrictions: course is limited to students declared in a certain major or in a certain class standing, etc.
- Open course list updates in real time when UC Merced students drop or add courses (24 hours/day)
UC ENTRY LEVEL WRITING REQUIREMENT (ELWR)
- If you did not satisfy ELWR before starting at UC Merced, take Writing 1 (WRI 001) in your first semester
- First years must complete the UC system-wide ELWR by the end of their second semester
- The majority of WRI 001 sections are taught in fall semester
GENERAL EDUCATION (GE) REQUIREMENTS
- Applies to first years entering Fall 2018 or after
- Applies to transfers entering Fall 2020 or after
GENERAL EDUCATION (GE) SPARK SEMINARS
- First years must complete the Spark Seminar (SPRK 001 or SPRK 010) by the end of their second semester
- Most first year students complete the Spark Seminar in their first semester
